about

With a diverse collection of edgy electronica, Heroes’ Lament Redux is a worthy successor to a heroic musical narrative. This new edition of my first album revisits the themes and melodies that chart a hero's journey towards true service in simultaneous self-preservation. Divided into two parts, five tracks are a heightened and structured exploration of the main musical ideas, and the other five are reinterpretations by five uniquely talented producers in the underground electronic scene.

The section of interpolations begins with a close rearrangement of "See the conqu'ring hero comes" from Handel's Judas Maccabeus, blanketed in lush sound design. Themes and melodies are condensed from the first album into next tracks. "Heed and Worship" is a reworking of the violin theme into an off-project organ and trance track. "Life Artificial" brings out the harsh edges of "Pretense" and "Looking Alive" in the first album to create a rave-ready scorcher. "Omnes Altiorem" revisits the space of the thirtyonetwentyfive collab in the pursuit of a refined, conclusive, optimistic track. The section ends with a beatless version of the ambient "I Know That I Want You Here With Me".

Remixes by Kelbin, Deluxe Ultra, Shay., Boyfriend, and Maddie Lives provide a wide-ranging array of club-centered reframing of songs from the first album. Kelbin injects the "Pretense" remix with their trademark panache for innovative sound design and grasp on hard-hitting rhythms. An indiscernible "Omnes" remix by Deluxe Ultra, unique to the original, eschews the mystery of musique concrète for enigmatic techno. Shay. turns the sprightly "Altius" into an adrenaline-filled synth track almost akin to a video game OST. Finally, we receive two unique remixes of "I Know That I Want You Here With Me", with the yearningly irresistible garage-pop interpretation by Boyfriend, and the short and uplifting ambient mix by Maddie Lives.
